The Rookie: Feds Season 2

The Rookie: Feds season 2 renewal has yet to be announced, but if it does return, here is a look at the cast, story and release date for the show.

The Rookie: Feds season 2 news has been slowly coming in since the first season ended in May. The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes have allowed ABC to postpone making an announcement for the show one way or the other. While ABC renewed the original The Rookie for another season, there has been nothing said about the spinoff's chances at survival. Not only that, but the main star of The Rookie: Feds cast, Niecy-Bash-Betts, said that she hasn't heard anything either and has no idea if she is coming back for another season or not. Simone Clark's adventures in The Rookie: Feds have garnered a following of their own, with many now eagerly waiting a renewal of Feds season 2.

The Rookie: Feds got its start with a back-door pilot on The Rookie in 2022 with the episodes "Simone" and "Enervo." Much like John Nolan on The Rookie, Simone was in her late 40s when she decided on a career change and went from being a school counselor to an FBI special agent. She ended up on a special team with a fellow rookie in Brendon Acres as Probies in the FBI, where they ended up on some significant cases. The final episode of the first season even saw them searching for a suspected that attempted to kill an FBI agent. However, if there is The Rookie: Feds season 2, ABC hasn't officially confirmed it yet.

The most recent The Rookie: Feds season 2 news is simply that the renewal remains unknown at this time, and there is a good chance that it won't return. ABC already renewed several of its shows, such as The Conners, with others like Alaska Daily confirmed as canceled. However, any news on The Rookie: Feds season 2 renewal remains unknown, as did shows like Home Economics and The Good Lawyer. Normally, a show's fate would be known but the SAG-AFTRA strike extends a cast's hold period. This means any of the shows could end up renewed as the casting holds won't start counting down again until the strike ends.

However, there is one person who has some news for viewers awaiting The Rookie: Feds season 2. Niecy Nash-Betts was the star of The Rookie: Feds season 2 cast, leading as Simone Clark. Since she's in the central role, she'd likely be one of the first to know if there's a change in the chances of renewal for The Rookie: Feds. However, according to Nash-Betts, she hasn't heard anything about The Rookie: Feds Season 2 cancelation or renewal:

"I’m a lady in waiting. I don’t know the fate of that show. But I do know that in the same article I read that said that it was on the bubble, it also said that I was one of the most sought-after actresses at this time. So we’ll see. But I love my job at Rookie: Feds. I love the people that I work with, so being able to do another season of it would be like heaven to me."

The Rookie: Feds season 2 renewal has not been announced yet. The longer time it passes, the less chance that it has of coming back at all. ABC already renewed The Conners and the new drama Will Trent. It also renewed the original The Rookie. However, there are still three shows that have no news about a renewal. There is still time, but it looks like The Rookie: Feds season 2 cancelation might be coming on the horizon. Not even star Niecy Nash-Betts knows if the show is coming back. If there is The Rookie: Feds season 2 release date, it won't be until 2024 at the earliest thanks to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The one person to return to The Rookie: Feds season 2 cast will be Niecy Nash-Betts. Nash-Betts plays Simone Clark, a former school counselor who became an FBI special agent at the age of 48. Other actors in The Rookie: Feds season 2 cast includes Frankie Faison as Simone's father Cutty, James Lesure as career FBI Special Agent Carter Hope, Britt Robertson as FBI special agent Laura Stensen, Felix Solis as team leader Matt Garza, Kevin Zegers as rookie Brendon Acres, and Michelle Nuñez as tech analyst Elena Flores. Whether all or any of these will return for The Rookie: Feds season 2 isn't yet known.

The Rookie: Feds Season 2 story remains mostly unknown. Like many network police procedurals that feature a case of the week, The Rookie: Feds follows this same format. Throughout the first season, Simone's team investigated the deaths of an internal investigation unit, a death row inmate who radicalized his cult, more than one serial killer, and a highly publicized missing person's case. It all ended with her team investigating the attempted murder of an FBI agent. The Rookie: Feds season 1 shockingly ended with Simone getting shot, but the good news is that she was wearing a bulletproof vest, although she missed her own birthday party.
